Azra Hromadžić is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the Maxwell School of Citizenship at the University of Syracuse (USA).She completed primary and secondary school inBihać. After the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, she received a fellowship for studies in the United States. She earned her doctorate in cultural anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In addition to the book Citizens of an Empty Nation (2015), she has published a large number of articles and reviews in scientific journals and edited books in the English, German and Bosnian languages. Her research interests include political anthropology, problems of ethnopolitical violence and postwar reconciliation, as well as themes involving gender studies and youth culture in socialism and postsocialism.
